NEPTUNE clinical study
Living with Chronic Eye Pain?
Learn about the NEPTUNE clinical study evaluating an investigational treatment for Neuropathic Corneal Pain (NCP).
Neuropathic corneal pain can cause persistent pain, burning, stinging, or discomfort in the eyes, even when the eye looks relatively normal. This study is evaluating the safety and potential effectiveness of an investigational eye drop for adults with neuropathic corneal pain.

About the Study
About the NEPTUNE Study
What is NCP?
Neuropathic corneal pain (NCP) is a chronic condition where nerves in the cornea become overly sensitive or damaged, leading to ongoing eye pain and discomfort. Common symptoms include:
Burning, stinging, or shooting pain in the eyes
Sensitivity to light (photophobia)
Foreign body sensation or dryness
Blurry or fluctuating vision
Persistent pain

Study Purpose
The NEPTUNE study is being conducted to evaluate the safety and potential effectiveness of an investigational treatment (urcosimod eye drops).
01
Study Overview
The NEPTUNE study (Neuropathic Eye Pain Treatment with Urcosimod & Nerve Evaluation) is a clinical research study evaluating an investigational eye drop for adults with neuropathic corneal pain.
This is a randomized, placebo-controlled study. This means that if you qualify and choose to participate, you will be randomly assigned (like a flip of a coin) to receive either the investigational treatment or a placebo (inactive eye drop that looks the same), and neither you nor the study team will know which one is being administered for the entire duration of the study.
02
Treatment Plan
Design
Participants are randomly assigned to receive either urcosimod eye drops or placebo eye drops, instilled 4 times per day.
Duration
The treatment period is ~12 weeks, with follow-up visits for monitoring. Participation in the study will last for ~17 weeks.
Visits
Regular study visits include eye examinations and other assessments to evaluate safety and study outcomes. Procedures are non-invasive or standard ophthalmic tests.
All study-related procedures, including the investigational drops, is provided at no cost to participants.
Am I Eligible
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility will be assessed by participating study team. You may want to reach out if you are an adult 18 years or older and have been diagnosed with neuropathic corneal pain.

Exclusion Criteria
A study doctor will review your medical history and perform screening tests to determine eligibility.
